About Trend Invaders

Cyber space is being invaded by trending topics from Twitter. Do your part and help clean up cyber space or simply keep up with the latest trends in this epic, casual game of tweet-destroying mayhem.

Trend Invaders begins by presenting you with a list of the top 10 trending hashtags. Choose a hashtag and the game will retrieve the latest tweets associated with this hashtag, presenting them as targets for you as you fly though cyber space.

Watch out for tweets firing letters at you and collect items to help you destroy the tweets faster. Achieve a high score and it will show up on our website top scores table!

Update 2024

Our games are quite old now and have been preserved within our website for you to play.

Trend Invaders and Twenty-six million dollar flag game were both developed as Facebook canvas games and enjoyed a number of years being played within that ecosystem. Lately (2024) Facebook's ever changing requirements and deprecation of canvas have made it challenging to maintain our legacy games. Thus, we have ported them to run within our website so that you can continue to enjoy them without even needing a Facebook account (which hopefully you'll agree is a nice feature these days!). Similarly we have not maintained our App or Play store versions of Trend Invaders as we need to focus our attention on other projects. (These games are spare time passion projects and we both have full time day jobs)

Similarly frustrating has been Elon Musk's removal of the free tier from the Twitter API. This has meant that we can no longer pull the latest trending tweets into Trend Invaders without diverting monthly cash into his empire. Therefore, while you can still play today, the tweets within the game are now quite outdated. We have also stopped selling high score t-shirts.
